Pupils Explore Humanism Through Special RE Visit
Back
Years 5 and 6 pupils at Oxclose Primary Academy recently welcomed Ian Hunter from Humanists UK as part of their Religious Education curriculum.
During his visit, Ian introduced pupils to Humanism, a non-religious worldview that focuses on reason, compassion and helping others. The session gave children the opportunity to learn about Humanist values and explore how Humanists make decisions, celebrate important life events and contribute positively to their communities.
Pupils listened thoughtfully and asked a range of insightful questions, demonstrating curiosity and engagement throughout the visit. The session encouraged children to reflect on different beliefs and worldviews, helping them develop a broader understanding of the diverse society in which we live.
Experiences such as this play an important role in enriching the RE curriculum, giving pupils the opportunity to learn directly from individuals with different beliefs and perspectives.
We would like to thank Ian Hunter and Humanists UK for taking the time to visit our Academy and share their knowledge and experiences with our pupils.
