SEND
Welcome
Welcome to our SEND page, where we hope you will find information about how we implement our policy and practice to deliver high quality SEND provision for children with Special Educational Needs.
The information within the SEND section of the website, should be read alongside our SEND Information Report, SEND Policy and Accessibility Plan, which can all be found in the Key Information section of the website.
Our SEND Vision:
At Oxclose Primary Academy, we value inclusivity and believe that all pupils have the right to an education where they can achieve their full potential. We believe it is important for or pupils to develop independence, resilience and confidence, so that they can make safe choices and become well rounded individuals.
We are committed to the inclusion of all pupils across all areas of school life. We recognise the diverse and individual needs of all of our pupils and take into account the additional support required by those children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
We are a mainstream, inclusive school, with an Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) for pupils with physical and/or medical needs. We are passionate about ensuring all children reach their potential in all areas of school life.
During our most recent Ofsted visit they identified that:
'The school has a specially resourced provision for pupils with physical and/or medical needs (specially resourced provision). These pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are a valued and well integrated part of the school community’.
Our school was inspected by Ofsted in April 2022 and they recognised that pupils with additional needs are fully integrated into school life and build good relationships whilst preparing them for the future,
'All pupils, including pupils with significant physical needs, play together happily. They are kind to each other’.
‘Leaders use the personal, social and health education (PSHE) curriculum to provide pupils with a ‘toolkit’ that will prepare them for life. Pupils learn about a wide range of topics, including healthy relationships and online safety in a carefully planned manner. Staff make sure that pupils with SEND understand these important messages’.
'All pupils, including pupils with significant additional needs, are taught phonics to give them the best
start for life'.
