Working with Pupils, Parents and Carers

All staff will work with pupils to identify the support needed to meet agreed outcomes. Provision is planned and interventions are allocated dependent on individual needs. Pupil voice is collected periodically across the school year.

We are committed to working with parents and carers to identify their child’s needs and support. Parents and carers will be involved throughout the process. There are a range of ways this can be done, for example:

  • Termly parents/carers meetings
  • Termly Support Plan meetings
  • Ongoing discussions with a class teacher and/or SENDCo
  • An ‘open-door’ policy, where parents and carers are welcome to come into school to discuss any concerns they may have;
  • Through regular reviews of their child’s SEND Support Plan, Individual Healthcare Plan, Education Health Care Plan (EHCP)

We have termly SEND Coffee Mornings, where all parents are invited to come into school for a focused session with the SENDCo and guest speakers/visitors/external professionals.  These sessions aim to provide information about SEND provision in school, but also to provide support and guidance for parents/carers to support them at home. We also have a termly newsletter, The Hoot: Special Edition, which is an opportunity to share all things SEND and Inclusion with parents/carers and to share positive news stories from school.
