At Oxclose Primary Academy we celebrated World Book Day in style.

We started the day with a brilliant whole school assembly led by our very own very hungry caterpillar (aka Mrs White). The pupils, and staff, loved the book character parade! Across the day we had a whole range of fun activities, linked to the year group focused texts.

Reception pupils invited their parents to come in and complete reading activities. KS1 pupils created their own story spoons, whilst KS2 created finger puppets. Year 3 pupils and staff, in their Beatrix Potter themed costumes, visited Washington Library and met and author, who set hem a challenge linked to her most recent book.

All pupils had a story session with Mrs Bolam and Mrs Butler, as well as a teacher swap. Our older pupils also read with our younger pupils across the day.

We all had an amazing day linked to reading and our love of books!
