Pupils at Oxclose Primary Academy came together to support a fantastic cause by taking part in a Wear Red for CHUF Day, organised by the school council.

Children and staff wore red to show their support for the Children’s Heart Unit Fund (CHUF), while also taking part in a fun ‘Name the Bear’ competition to help raise money. The day was not only enjoyable, but also an important opportunity to learn more about the charity and the work it does to support children and families.

During a special assembly, pupils learned about congenital heart defects and gained a greater understanding of how some children may need extra care and support. They explored how children with heart conditions can sometimes feel more tired, but are still just as active, resilient and full of life as their peers.

Thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of the school community, the event raised £116, while also helping to build awareness, empathy and understanding among pupils.

It was a brilliant example of the school coming together to support others and make a positive difference.
