Year 5 Visit the Monozukuri Caravan
Back
Yesterday, Year 5 enjoyed an exciting and enriching visit to the Monozukuri Caravan, a hands-on manufacturing experience delivered in partnership with Nissan.
Throughout the day, the children worked in teams to design and build model Lego cars, striving to complete their builds efficiently by working along a production line, just like in a real factory setting. They showed great teamwork and communication, while also being good by supporting one another, sharing resources and respecting both their teammates and the learning environment.
The pupils were ambitious in their approach, aiming to beat their previous times and improve their builds with each attempt. They were also brave, willing to take risks, test new ideas and learn from mistakes. The hands-on challenges sparked curious learners, with children asking thoughtful questions about how vehicles are made and how production processes work.
It was fantastic to see how determined the pupils were, especially when things didn’t go to plan at first. They persevered and kept improving their designs. Many groups produced extraordinary results, showcasing creativity and innovation in their final models, while working both fast and carefully to meet the challenge criteria.
In addition to the Lego challenge, the children explored real manufacturing processes, learning about the tools, equipment and safety measures used in industry. This helped bring classroom learning to life and gave valuable insight into STEM careers.
Overall, the visit was a huge success, and the children represented the school brilliantly by demonstrating all of our core values throughout the day.
