Pupils Learn About Mental Health and Wellbeing with Healthy Heads
Back
Reception, KS1 and KS2 pupils from Oxclose Primary Academy recently took part in a special launch assembly with Lucy from the Healthy Heads Team, where they learned more about mental health and wellbeing.
During the session, pupils explored different feelings and discussed how everyone can experience a range of emotions including happiness, worry, excitement and sadness. Children talked about the importance of sharing their feelings with trusted adults and learned simple ways to support their mental health, including the “5 Ways to Wellbeing”.
The assembly helped pupils understand that looking after their minds is just as important as looking after their bodies and reminded them that there are always people around to help and support them. The session also encouraged children to develop important skills including Speaking, Listening, Staying Positive and Teamwork through discussion and reflection.
Staff and pupils thoroughly enjoyed meeting Lucy and are looking forward to continuing to work with her and the Healthy Heads Team after half term.
Alongside the pupil sessions, staff at Oxclose Primary Academy also received training on the Thrive model and an introduction to Healthy Heads, helping to further strengthen the school’s approach to supporting wellbeing across the academy.
