Teaching and Learning
At Oxclose Primary Academy, we are committed to providing high-quality teaching and learning that is ambitious, inclusive and responsive to the needs of every pupil. Our approach is grounded in evidence-informed practice and a shared understanding of the principles that support effective learning across our academy.
Our Teaching and Learning Handbook brings this shared approach together, outlining the principles, routines and expectations that underpin classroom practice at Oxclose Primary. It reflects our commitment to strong pedagogy while recognising that effective teaching is responsive to pupils, subjects and learning needs. Where technology is used, it is implemented purposefully to strengthen teaching and learning, improve access and participation, and support pupils to develop increasing independence.
Our six shared Teaching and Learning principles are:
- Classroom Culture
- Strong Routines for Learning
- Curriculum and Knowledge Building
- Explicit Instruction
- Responsive Teaching and Assessment
- Inclusive and Adaptive Teaching
Together, these principles provide a consistent foundation for Teaching and Learning across Oxclose while giving teachers the professional flexibility to respond to the pupils in front of them.
