Healthy Heads Assembly: Understanding Big Feelings
Today, we were pleased to welcome back Lucy an Educational Mental Health Practitioner from the Healthy Heads programme, who delivered an assembly focused on Understanding Big Feelings.
The assembly helped children to understand that mental health is about how our minds and brains feel and that everyone experiences a range of emotions every day. Pupils explored different feelings, including happiness, sadness, worry and anger, and discussed how emotions can influence our thoughts, behaviours and physical feelings.
Children also learned about the importance of recognising when feelings become overwhelming and the value of seeking support from trusted adults. Practical strategies were shared to help manage big feelings, including talking about worries, taking calming deep breaths and participating in enjoyable activities.
At Oxclose Primary Academy, we are committed to supporting children's emotional wellbeing and mental health. We would like to thank Lucy and the Healthy Heads team for delivering such an informative and valuable session for our pupils.
